What is a Knowledge Session?
A Knowledge Session is a 1 hour zoom session where I will give you information on a topic you want to know more about. It may be about a particular disability, like Autism, Intellectual Disabilities or ADHD, or it may be about the special education process or how to get support in the school system. Each session will have a designated topic. Don’t see what you are looking for? Just ask! Fill out the contact form and let me know what you need!
What will I learn in the Knowledge Session?
Anything you want! While I do have a topic for each session, it is absolutely fine to go off topic if you have other questions.
Will other parents be at the Knowledge Sessions?
Possibly. While I cannot predict who or how many people will sign up, I am limiting each session to 8 people, so everyone can still receive individualized attention. Having other parents present will also give you the opportunity to network if you so choose.
Will you give legal advice?
I am not a lawyer and I cannot give you legal advice. I can teach you about Special Education Law and give you a lot of resources, but I cannot give you legal counsel.
Can you diagnose my child?
Although I have a doctorate in educational psychology, I am not a licensed psychologist. That means I cannot test, evaluate, or diagnose your child. I can, however, help you understand the assessment that your child has been given, and give you helpful information about your child’s disability and the services they may receive in school.
Can I bring a friend to the Knowledge Session?
While I would never ask you to sit in a room alone while you are in the session, I want to make sure I provide the best possible experience to all who are registered. Knowing exactly who is zooming helps me to help everyone!
Can I meet with you one-on-one?
There are several ways to receive support. I would be happy to meet with you to talk about other options and see if it is cost effective for you!
